No visit to London is complete without visiting Harrods. Every time I go to London, I stop by Harrods and enjoy the luxurious shopping there. But this month, my sister’s and I visit to Harrods was different. We went through my favourite sections of ladies fashion, as well as my favourite make up brands, bought a few items and instead of heading to a nearby restaurant for dinner, we went for a fancy meal at Harrods.
Every time we remember the meal that we had at Pan Chai restaurant, we get hungry and start craving those amazing dishes that we had after a long day of shopping in Harrods. Not only the food was amazing, but also the presentation was outstanding that several people passing by, stopped and asked if they can take pictures of our food. The staff who welcomed us at the restaurant and served the food were very friendly and professional. It really does make a difference to a dining experience when the staff are so lovely, don’t you agree?
Pan Chai serves luxurious Japanese and Pan Asian meals in its open-plan kitchen, through which we could watch the chef preparing our food. The menu includes Salads, Soups, Sashimi, Traditional Japanese Rolls, Grills, Platters, Noddles, Pan Chai Signature Sushi Rolls as well as set menus.
With all the possibilities to chose from, it took us a while to decide what to have for dinner on that day. And after a long day of walking and shopping we agreed that we should treat ourselves with really good food. So we had miso soup, Japanese edamame with sea salt and the famous Black Dragon sushi rolls as starters. An Asian meal is never complete without those three. We also had a big plate of chef’s choice of sashimi that was served with dry ice on the side to keep the meats fresh. This scene was truly magnificent. Another plate for us to share was jumbo tiger prawns grilled with teriyaki sauce. These were battered which made them flaky, crispy and delicious and I would really recommend this dish for you to try!
Now let’s talk about the salmon, in Pan Chai I seriously had the best grilled salmon teriyaki ever! It was served with asparagus, fresh lime and caviar, and it was absolutely delicious! My sister ordered the Wagyu Beef Bulgogi which was grilled in Korean barbecue sauce, garnished with Japanese mushrooms and asparagus, and served with steamed rice on the side. It was her first time trying the Wagyu beef, and the meat was tender and very delicious. She said that this dish was truly unique. For drinks, we had a bottle of lovely French Rosé.
The restaurant definitely exceeded our expectations, as all dishes were prepared with so much care and precision, the service was excellent and the ambience was pleasant.
The Pan Chai restaurant is placed in the food halls at the ground floor of Harrods. It is perfect for light meals as well as more filling dinners. The restaurant works on a no reservation policy, and it seems like this restaurant is always full and difficult to get a seat at. But I will definitely dine at Pan Chai again next time I visit Harrods!
