Valentine’s Day is almost here and love is in the air!
I can’t believe that it’s February already, it feels like we celebrated New Year’s Eve only a few days ago! And Valentine’s Day is next week already. I love this day as I think that red roses, lots of cute hearts, and red teddy bears are way too pretty! And during this time of the year, you get to see them everywhere if you go shopping. Valentine’s Day makes me think of all the amazing people in my life, and how blessed I am to always be surrounded by people that I love and care about.
This year I don’t have much planned as I’m spending the weekend before Valentine’s Day in Belfast, and I just got back from Geneva yesterday. So my Valentine’s Day plans are just a lovely candlelit meal with my partner, followed by lovely desserts at my place. What are your plans for Valentine’s Day this year?
Since it’s the sweetest time of the year, let’s talk desserts. Iceland Foods stock an impressive range of luxury frozen desserts, and this is exactly what we’re going to have on Valentine’s Day. So that’s dessert sorted for our date night! I already have everything in my freezer, and because these desserts are so convenient which means that I won’t spend my day stuck in the kitchen, all I will need to do on the day is defrost them a couple of hours ahead and they will be ready to serve.
Thanks to the #PowerOfFrozen, Iceland Food’s frozen dessert selection is huge and I love everything that I’ve tried so far. I got a pack of 2 Chocolate & Hazelnut Marquise, a Raspberry & Prosecco Semifreddo, a pack of 2 Exotic Mousse with Coconut, a pack of 2 Very Berry Individual Cheesecakes, and finally a pack of 2 Westcountry Salted Fudge Individual Cheesecakes. I love the fact that most of these desserts come in packs of 2, which makes them ideal for couples! The portion sizes are perfect, they’re not too small and they leave enough room to enjoy more than just one dessert. If you’re celebrating Valentine’s Day with your partner, you will love these desserts! Now let’s talk about the desserts that I got in detail…
The Raspberry & Prosecco Semifreddo (£3) is a light Italian style berry dessert, made with mascarpone cheese, topped with berry compote and Heritage raspberry crumb. This dessert reminds me of frozen yoghurt as it’s light and delicate. This dessert is very convenient as it can be eaten 10-15 minutes after taking it out from freezer so you won’t need to wait!
My all time favourite dessert from Iceland Foods is the Very Berry Cheesecake (£2), as I’m absolutely crazy about berries yet alone the baked cheesecake. The vanilla cheesecake is creamy, rich and smooth. And the base is very delicious, the cheesecakes are topped with raspberries, blueberries and blackberries in fruity sauce. These cheesecakes need to be defrosted for 1 hour and 45 minutes before serving.
The chocolate & Hazelnut Marquise (£2.50) is a layered dessert on a crunchy hazelnut and milk chocolate base, chocolate flavoured sauce, chocolate flavour brownie and dark chocolate mousse, decorated with dark chocolate velvet spray. The crunchy bit is so perfect as the combination of rich and smooth chocolate with crunchy hazelnut is out of this world! This dessert need to be defrosted 1 hour and 30 minutes before serving.
The Exotic Mousse with Coconut (£2.50), is a thin sponge layer topped with an extremely smooth and creamy passion fruit and mango mousse, coated in mango icing and decorated with desiccated coconut. Mangoes are my favourite fruits, and I really like the dessert as it adds a bit of freshness compared to the chocolatey desserts. This mousse needs to be defrosted for 1 hour before serving.
And finally for caramel fudge and cheesecake fans, these Westcountry Salted Fudge Cheesecakes (£2) are SO GOOD! Again, the vanilla cheesecake is rich and creamy, made with digestive biscuit base and topped with salted caramel sauce and salted caramel fudge pieces. These cheesecakes need to be defrosted for 1 hour and 15 minutes before serving.
