Christmas is almost here and I’m already thinking about the drinks that will be served in our house during the holidays, we will have a huge group of guests coming over and I want everything to be extra special and every drink to feel like a treat! I made a list of some special drinks that we will be serving this year, hopefully this will inspire you and maybe I will introduce to you a couple of new brands that you haven’t heard of before!
Cazcabel Tequila, made with sun-baked agave. The taste is fresh, crisp and beautifully balanced with a hint of earthy agave. It comes in the clear Cazcabel Blanco Tequila (RRP £24.99, 70cl), and Cazcabel Honey Tequila which has the blanco tequila base but infused with rich and sweet pure honey that makes this tequila extra special (RRP £25.99, 70cl). Both tequilas are extra ordinary, but honey tequila is definitely my favourite.
Rock Rose Gin is one of the finest gins ever and great for gin lovers. The gin is fresh, zesty yet berryful with a long smooth finish. This is a winter edition that comes in a gorgeous ceramic bottle that is special for the festive period (RRP £37.50, 70cl). We had so much fun making cocktails with this gin, the possibilities are endless but my favourite was cranberry pomegranate gin cocktail, it definitely gets you in the festive mood!
The Famous Grouse Mellow Gold Whisky (RRP £22, 70cl) is the latest addition to The Famous Family and has been crafted to deliver a subtly sweeter, mellow flavour. Blended for smoothness, The Famous Grouse Mellow Gold blends whiskies from rare Spanish sherry casks and American bourbon casks for a Famously smooth flavour. The Famous Grouse Mellow Gold is best served over ice or topped with cloudy lemonade and a wedge of orange. A few members in the family love Whisky, so this will be the perfect drink for them.
We also will be serving this selection during Christmas, but it also makes a great gift to beer lovers. Bill’s offer a selection of beers and ciders in a festive box, made by the country’s finest brewers especially for Bill’s. The box contains 1 bottle of Bill’s Cornish Cider, 1 bottle of Bill’s Blonde Beer and 1 bottle of Bill’s Ipa (RRP £16, available to order from Bill’s shop website).
Meantime Chocolate Porter (RRP £21.99 for a case of 12x330ml bottles). Meantime’s chocolate porter is perfect to enjoy at Christmas, brewed using four different roasted malts, there’s a typical mocha taste that’s aided by the addition of real chocolate during the maturation process. So if you are a beer lover, give this beer a try!
CELIA is an organic lager, brewed in the cellars of a 14th century castle to create a hand-crafted, premium Czech lager with a refreshing bitterness. It is also gluten-free and due to it’s natural carbonation it doesn’t bloat you after drinking. CELIA Dark has a distinctive coffee like aroma and a slightly nutty caramel flavour, great for the cold winter nights. (RRP £2.50 per bottle)
Crabbie’s Ginger Beer is ideal to make refreshing cocktails, it’s matured for 6 weeks to create a deliciously distinctive flavour. My favourite cocktail is Crabbie’s punch made with rum, gin, vodka, cranberry juice, lemon juice topped with Crabbie’s ginger beer. (RRP £2.49 for 500ml bottle)
If you don’t drink alcohol, or if you have guests coming over that do not drink alcohol then Eisberg alcohol free wine is the perfect choice. It is made exactly the same way as regular wine. However, the alcohol is removed right at the end leaving the same taste as wine but without any of the alcohol and a fraction of the calories. (RRP £3, 75cl)
If you don’t want to consume alcohol, James White Apple Juices make the perfect sophisticated alternative to wine, using filtration techniques borrowed from the wine world. The range comprises five premium apple juices from English orchards: Bramley; Cox; Russet; Apple & Elderflower and Apple & Summer Berries. If you’re partial to a crisp dry wine then Bramley is the juice for you. For those who like it rich and sweet try Russet which has characterises of a dessert wine. (RRP £2.25, 75cl bottle)
Great Uncle Cornelius’ Famous Spiced Ginger is a smooth and rich non-alcoholic aperitif which can be served hot or cold. And for those who enjoy a swift half, add a generous splash of whisky for a fiery Ginger Mac or rum for the perfect Dark and Stormy cocktail. I found this one to be exceptionally delicious, makes a great mixer to many spirits. (RRP £3.60, 75cl)
Many thanks for all the samples received. All opinions our own.
